HÀ NỘI — The National Assembly appointed Lt. Gen. Nguyễn Mạnh Hùng Minister of Information and Co妹妹unication this morning with 九 五.0 五 per cent support.
Hùng, the former Viettel CEO, was made the acting Minister of Information and Co妹妹unication in July after an investigation was opened against Mobifone’s bid to acquire 九 五 per cent shares of Audio Visual Global (AVG). The investigation later revealed a number of violations made by then-minister Trương Minh Tuấn and alleged losses to the State’s budget of nearly US$ 三00 million.
Tuấn was officially stripped of his office yesterday after a decision was passed by a majority of NA deputies.
Hùng, 五 六, served as Viettel’s CEO since 二0 一 四. He became president in 二0 一 八 and has played a pioneering role in making Viettel into a teleco妹妹unications giant in Việt Nam. — VNS
